Matthew 6:9-10
This, then, is how you should pray:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.”
When Jesus prayed this in His prayer, I believe He meant it literally. And then He blessed us with the gift of the Holy Spirit, allowing us to stand in this place of grace and authority to do the things He did, and even greater things.
It is amazing and humbling to view the way He did things – never acting in fear and proclaiming “Oh no, we are under attack!” Or “Wow, the enemy is really coming against me right now.” No, He SPOKE to the storm. He SPOKE life to people. He didn’t concern Himself with what his enemies were doing, or the chaos He was living in at the time. His focus was completely on what He saw His Father doing and what He heard His Father speaking. Father was not speaking about the atrocities going on or opinions about the state of affairs in the world.
Father is always speaking “Life” and “Peace” to the dead and to the storms. When we partner with what Father is doing through the Person of Peace through the power of Holy Spirit, we too have abundant authority to speak peace to the storm, to speak life to the dead, to calm the chaos. The beauty of all this is that it is never limited to time and space. Horrendous things may be going on across the world (and they are) and He has entrusted us with His Breath – the same breath that spoke the world and you and I into being.
With this Precious Breath we can speak to the storm many many miles away from us or right in our face, and see results here on earth as it is in heaven. Brothers and sisters, rise up and speak with His Breath that He is breathing in you. There is no war in heaven. There is no starving in heaven. There is no fear there. No depression. No crime. No injustice.
Declare with your heaven-sent breath the life and wholeness that is in heaven right now to be the reality on earth as well. Let’s agree with Jesus’ prayer and change this world with real power – power that is far greater than war, fear, pain, and suffering.
