Leader VLOG #14!

Welcome to Episode 14 of our Leadership VLOG series. In this episode, Saundra urges us to remember the value of walking out scriptural principles in leadership.

Thus far we have been discussing the marks of a leader. We’ve discussed how this requires connecting with people at their hearts and empathizing, both emotionally and compassionately.

I’ve already established that connecting with emotion matters, so now I want to point out that living this call to leadership requires us to also walk out what we see in scripture.

I Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”

If we are to disciple, inspire, and example to people how to live, we need to walk out these principles of leadership. If we are going to be amazing leaders, we have got to be people who can do the Word.

We don’t talk about this enough. It isn’t about God putting restraints on us or His judgement, it is about us living the best life we can. Leadership requires me to live the scriptural principles out. Not because God will be angry with me (He has already forgiven me!), but because I understand God knows better than I do what is right and good for my life.

The principles laid out in scripture will be a blessing and a benefit to me, my life, and the people I’m leading.

Be the leader who connects with his/her own heart, others hearts, and the heart of the Father. And be willing to lead from kindness, love, and mercy.
